DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF: TIPS FOR A STRESS-FREE WEDDING


Planning a wedding can be a stressful time for any bride. This may be the most special day your life, so why not try to enjoy it without all the stress. In order to find out how to accomplish the miraculous feat of planning a stress-free wedding, we sought out the much needed advice of superstar wedding planner, Danielle Bobish of Curtain Up Events. Danielle dishes out her top 10 tips for a Stress-Free Wedding.

10 TIPS FOR A STRESS-FREE WEDDING

1. Read through your contracts BEFORE you sign them. It’s so important to make sure you agree to everything you commit to. Very rarely can something be changed after you’ve signed off on it.

2. Celebrate the diversity of your bridesmaids. These girls are your friends and you love them for who they are, so don’t try to make them all look the same. It’s just not realistic.

3. Work with your venue and not against it. If your reception venue has burgundy and green décor, it’s most likely not going to change before your event. So, if your colors are lavender and cream, this is something to consider before signing the venue.

4. Create one binder with all of your vendor contracts and a main vendor contact sheet that includes office and cell phone numbers. Bring this binder with you on your wedding day and delegate someone to be in charge of it.

5. Organization is key! Take advantage of all of the free online software that’s available. You can create a wedding website for your guests, track your rsvp’s, manage your budget and your guest list and arrange your seating all in one place!

6. Create a detailed timeline of the day’s events. It’s important to work with your caterer on this. The timing of your event will revolve around dinner service. Make sure you buffer the entire timeline with enough space for travel and late arrivals. It’s better to be 10 minutes ahead of schedule than 10 minutes behind.

7. Have someone accompany you to your final fitting. It’s important for one of your reliable friends or family members to know how your bustle works. Have them do it at the fitting to make sure they know 1st hand rather than just watching.

8. If you are ordering vases, votives, ribbon, favors, or anything that could break during shipping make sure to order extra pieces. You don’t want to be short a vase for a centerpiece because you ordered the exact amount.

9. Make a list of everything you will need to take with you on the day of your wedding. Make sure to include the marriage license, the rings, an extra shirt for the groom, comfy shoes to keep under your table during the reception and makeup for touchups.

10. Schedule a massage and a nail appointment for the day before the wedding. You deserve a little relaxation to take it all in!
