THE DEBATE IS OVER: THE RECEPTION DRESS IS HERE TO STAY!

Rachel & George

When it was initially proposed, there was a great debate about wearing a second dress for the wedding reception. Some strongly opposed the idea and dismissed it as completely and utterly absurd, a passing fad at best. Today it looks like the votes are in, and the reception dress is here to stay and gaining in popularity. Brides have fallen in love with wearing a dress they can dance in and party all night without being restricted by a cumbersome ballgown or body-hugging mermaid silhouette. Being able to dance and move about freely at the reception is an intoxicating idea for any bride.

Designer Anne Bowen has long been a proponent of the reception dress. Not only has she made reception dresses a staple in each and every collection, she has ensured that brides will feel equally if not more glamorous in their second dress.

We are please to share with you a beautiful wedding reception photographed by the incredibly talented Jeff Tishman. (These images have appeared in prominent online publications like Grace Ormonde and Style Me Pretty.) These images capture the sheer jubilation of the bride at her reception. This bride really knows how to get down and enjoy herself. The bride, of course, wore a reception dress by ANNE BOWEN (Botanical Gardens).

REAL BRIDE: DREW & PHEMIE IN MONTEGO BAY

We are delighted to share the amazing work of California based destination wedding photographer Mike Colon and his protégé Kat Harris. We immediately fell in love with these images of Drew and Phemie’s wedding in Montego Bay and almost felt guilty about not buying a gift for the bride and groom. We have never seen such beauty, joy, and love captured on film. We feel fortunate to able to share these images with you.

The bride wore “Icicle” by ANNE BOWEN and was radiant. They say that the dress often sets the tone for the wedding. This bride definitely set the tone for this gorgeous wedding.

CAPTURING THE MAGIC: URBAN CINEMATOGRAPHY

Capturing the details of a wedding is often just as important as the intricate details on a bride's dress. From production to the final fitting, the design team at ANNE BOWEN, ensures that no detail is too small to be overlooked. Once the dress is completed, finding the right cinematographer to video record the wedding is essential in order to capture the details and unique moments of the newlywed's special day.

We were fortunate to have discovered an amazing video of a very special wedding in majestic Santorini. (The bride wore a gorgeous ANNE BOWEN and was stunning.) The team at Urban Cinematography flawlessly captured every detail and magic moment of the event. Founded by the husband-wife duo, Apostolos Goris and Johanna Lawrence, Urban Cinematography does not simply document the day, but rather document what the day felt like, the depth of feeling, the small things, the shared moments, and the cinematic substance behind the style. They cover destination weddings in any country and specialize in Greece, Cyprus, and the Greek Islands.

REAL BRIDES: KATHERINE & GREG HAWAII WEDDING

Nothing beats the sight of a bride walking down the aisle wearing an ANNE BOWEN wedding dress on her big day. These photos were taken by photographer Gabriel Gastelum at the wedding of Katherine and Greg. The bride looked stunning in the Entwine by ANNE BOWEN. With breathtaking views of Hawaii, this wedding was destined to be one that no one will soon forget.

After the girls got ready, we headed down to the main beach to take some fun portraits of all the bridesmaids and of the bride. The groomsmen were going to drive down later. The only problem was that it was in the middle of the day. The sun was SPOT ON. It was so harsh that it would make most photographers cry. We went right when the sun was at its worst, but it really didn’t matter because this wedding party had fun regardless.
