TIPS FOR FLAWLESS BEAUTY ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

With all eyes on you, every bride wants to look flawless on her wedding day. This season we were fortunate enough to work with the extremely talented make-up artist Janet Ovalle who helped transform the models at the ANNE BOWEN Spring 2012 bridal show into iconic beauties. As such, we asked Janet to share her tips for flawless beauty on your wedding day.

Since 2004, Janet started as a freelance make-up artist for MAC Cosmetics in the Art Deco city of Miami. Back in her home state of New York, she continues to meet the expectations of every client making them feel FIERCE, FLAWLESS, and FABULOUS for all occasions. Whether it may be a runway show, photo shoots, wedding, sweet sixteen, special occasion, or makeup lesson, Janet strives to find the effortless beauty in every woman.

Want to look ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS on your wedding day?

Here are 10 easy tips for wedding day beauty...

TIP #1: Healthy Glowing Skin

A great skin care regimen is essential to obtain 8 weeks before your I do's. Drinking lots of water will naturally help flush out any toxins in your body which will help promote healthy glowing skin from the inside out. A good moisturizer with SPF, will not only hydrate your face, but most importantly, it will protect you from premature aging and sun damage. Apply an oil-free moisturizer twice a day before makeup and again before going to bed at night.

TIP #2: Beautiful Brows

The older we get the more sparse our eyebrows become especially if they've been over plucked, waxed or threaded. Try letting your eyebrows grow out for a couple of weeks and then get them done about three days before your wedding. Redness can be tough to cover, and some people stay slightly swollen for a couple days post-wax. So don't wait last minute to do them!

TIP #3: Waterproof mascara, works well against tears of joy!

Use waterproof mascara. This may seem like a no-brainier but this can get overlooked. Even if you don't think you'll get emotional, you don't want to risk your mascara running if you do.

TIP #4: Makeup Trial

I HIGHLY recommend a makeup trial before your wedding! Brides have enough pre-wedding day stress and knowing that your makeup is going to look great is one less thing you should worry about. Whether you decide to do your own makeup or hire a makeup artist, make sure to test out beauty products 4 to 6 weeks in advance to avoid any surprise allergies on your big day.

TIP #5: Consider False Lashes

Most brides are hesitant about using false lashes because most brides associate the idea with drag makeup which is RIDICULOUS! With so many different styles of lashes out there to choose from, whether individual or strip lashes, using a natural set of false lashes are ESSENTIAL when looking to enhance the look of your makeup! Not only does it open up the eyes, adds to the appearance of fuller lashes but it also gives every bride a touch of GLAMOUR needed for their special day.

TIP #6: Foundation and Primers

The number one question brides ask me is “Will my makeup stay on all day?” With good primers, it will! Investing in long-lasting high quality makeup will ensure you will look great throughout the day. The only touch-ups brides should need to do is re-apply lipstick or lip gloss unless you choose to use a long lasting lip stain. I also suggest, oil blotting sheets or blot powders if you plan on being outside or if your skin is naturally oily. A professional makeup artist will not only leave you looking flawless in pictures and in person, but there will be no need to worry about your face melting an hour into the event.

TIP #7: Spray Tans, Tanning Beds and Beach Bums

Usually, I don't suggest any bride to do any kind of tanning after a makeup trial is done because...#1 The foundation used during the trial will not be the same after tanning, #2 Everyone is unique and can react to UVA's and/or radiation differently. So if your skin is fair or sensitive, swelling , redness or blisters may occur making it tough to cover and painful to bear :

( But if you insist in getting a healthy glow without harmful UVA's, than I recommend spray tanning in moderation! Like anything else, if you're not sure how you'll look after a spray tan, run a trial 4 to 6 weeks in advance this way you know exactly what to expect after your makeup trial. The worst thing that could happen is you look like an Oompa Loompa for a couple of days but at least not on your wedding day :)

TIP #8: Brighten Teeth

Don't forget your pearly whites! Nothing is worse than bad breath or yellow teeth...especially if your the bride! Eeeeek!!!

A good teeth cleaning from a hygienist and/or whitening strip go a long way in making a good impression on guests and lasts for beautiful pictures for years to come.

Tip #9: Stay true to Yourself!

As a makeup artist, I'm all about being creative and inspiring clients in trying different looks they wouldn't normally do, but your wedding day isn't the day to stray too far from your usual look. If you're a minimalist type of girl, a red vintage lip is not for you! If you're an eyeliner or smokey eye type of girl than don't try going for a natural look because at the end you won't be happy with the results.

TIP #10: Have fun and smile!

Nothing is more beautiful than a happy bride enjoying her wedding day!
